Volleyball Players

Volleyball has become one of the most popular sports to ever hit the circuit worldwide. And with this status, it does not come as a surprise that there have been a lot of volleyball players popping from just about everywhere all over the world. Yes, there are just so many volleyball players in the circuit nowadays, both male and female. And a lot of these volleyball players started out in the game at quite a young age. In fact, this is sort of the common thread amongst these famous volleyball players.

Another common thread amongst these volleyball players is the fact that they are tall. Yes, most, if not all, are very tall volleyball players in their own right. And one of these volleyball players is actually Gabrielle Reece. Although Reece is taking some time off from being a professional volleyball player to prepare for her pregnancy, she still remains a crowd favorite.

And why wouldn’t Gabby Reece be a crowd favorite? She is one of the many pro volleyball players that has been in the circuit for quite some time now. What’s more, Reece is beyond just being a volleyball player. She is also a sports presenter and a fashion model. Of course, her modeling career has dwindled lately because of a difference in priorities presently. But it is very understandable why Reece is a former fashion model. Interestingly, Reece actually started out as a fashion model. At her height of 6 feet and 3 inches, it really is no wonder that Reece became both a professional model and volleyball player.

Another interesting fact about Reece is that her interest in sports actually started out with the game of basketball. Back in high school, Reece played basketball and played volleyball only on the side. Because of her excellence in sports, a lot of colleges started eyeing her, and it did not take that long for them to start offering Reece sports scholarships. Reece then accepted Florida State University’s offer of a volleyball scholarship to her. She then began to build a name for herself in the circuit of volleyball. But then, in 1989, Reece took some time off to build her modeling career in New York. And she succeeded in that arena as well! In fact, that same year saw Reece being named as one of the five most beautiful women all over the world by ELLE Magazine. How is that for a start in modeling? Reece has also appeared on the cover of a lot of magazines. These include Shape, Life, Travel & Leisure Golf, Vogue, Women’s Sports & Fitness, and People.

And this famous girl volleyball player has set two records in the history of FSU. In fact, these two records still stand in her pride. Reece has the record of the most number of solo blocks and the most number of total blocks in FSU. The solo blocks add up to 240, while the total blocks add up to 747. These figures are yet to be beaten.

Since her graduation from FSU, Reece has been playing volleyball tours professionally. And in 1997, at the Beach Volleyball World Championships at the UCLA Tennis Center, Reece led a team of four beach volleyball players, and they grabbed first place for that tournament. And this was the first-ever beach volleyball tourney ever set up.

These days, Reece has been off the circuit preparing for motherhood. But she has been playing guest roles on television shows every now and then. These shows include North Shore, 8 Simple Rules, and Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Reece and husband Laird Hamilton also appeared on Fast Cars and Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race, which is a racing competition in which a lot of celebrities participated. And she still remains a favorite among volleyball fans all over the world today.
