Taking volleyball’s history into account, it’s worth noting that the game was originally developed by William G. Morgan as a less intense alternative to basketball, baseball, handball and tennis. He incorporated all of these games into one, forming what they first known as mintonette, later known as volleyball. If you’ll note that standard volleyball net height regulations, you’ll notice that experts of the game themselves measure the height of the net right from the middle of it. It then follows that when installing the volleyball net, both sides on its end or the two sidelines must measure exactly the same. The rule dictates that it should not be more than two centimeters higher than what the official height of volleyball net carries.

Regardless of the materials used for the construction of the volleyball net, the rules dictate that the net must not be less than 9.50 m (32 inches) in length and .91 m (3 inches) in width especially when it is stretched. Other than that, the height of the material measuring from the court’s center must be 2.43 m (7’ 11-5/8”) especially if the ones playing the game are males. This measure may fall lower to about 2.24 m (7’ 4 1/8”) if females are the ones playing on it. Note that these dimensions are maintained as the standards of the US tournament recreational nets.
The volleyball net systems are currently offered in large number. However, when choosing the right system, always make sure that you have the budget to support your needs. The nets come at a highly varying price, starting from $35 to more than $200. The most expensive option is priced based on its being a high end product, but generally the brand of the nets can also affect the range in price. The most popular of them, like Park & Sun Sports and Spalding, usually cost higher than $200. This is where the task of knowing exactly how much you are willing to spend for a single volleyball net comes in.
