Tennis is such a very popular sport played by millions of people from different countries in the world. With it being so popular, it’s no surprise for sport enthusiasts to come up with a variety of tennis games available for fans to play. The games are designed and developed to assist tennis players in developing their skills and abilities needed for them to win the tournaments. The coaches and instructors of tennis are even using these games to help train the members of a tennis club or team with the sport’s basics.
Generally, the tennis games are categorized according to matches. There you can find the single games, double games, and group games. Some of the most popular are mentioned below, so continued reading.
Singles Tennis Games
King of the Court – For this tennis ball game, a minimum of three players are needed, but the game can hold more than three if desired. What’s basically notable with this is that in this game, the first person is designated as either the king or queen to the other side of the tennis court. The other players will make a line right at the back of the baseline. Once formed, a challenger will step up and do the single point against the designated king or queen. The point should be done through a drop hit or a serve, and if the challenger wins, the king will be replaced by them. Well, what makes this tennis game useful is that it trains the players how to make the singles point.
Tag Team Singles – Designed to develop the level of consistency in the team, particularly, in their ground strokes, this game is played with at least four players. They are split into two groups; each forms a line up at the back of the baseline’s center. One player of both groups will do the starting move by stepping off and up the baseline. Either of the players can start making the point. Once the ball is hit, that player will move to the end of the line, and the other player will be the one to make the next shot. The same happens to the other group, but the point will continue until a mistake is done. The winner is determined basically by the team that wins the first points.
Doubles Tennis Games
All Position Doubles – Of the tennis games available, this one is practiced to help players familiarize with the basic positions involved in doubles. Eight or more contenders are needed here, with the first four playing the first point while in the normal starting position. The other players will stand to the side of the every starting position, and once done, the point is made. After making the first point, the four players will rotate clockwise to the end of the next line of players. The other four players will do the next point with the same rotation. Whoever wins the first ten points gets the prize.
Group Tennis Games
Triples – Designed and introduced to help a net player develop his skills and level of aggressiveness, the triples are basically played with players grouped into teams of three to six. Each of the teams will make a triangle on every side of the tennis court. One of them will work on the net. The other extras will just wait at the back at the baseline. To start the game, a ball should be fed by a player or a coach from outside the line, and the game is played using the two courts. If the point is made, players will rotate clockwise or in and out if more players are involved. The first team to make ten points wins the game.
Today, several other tennis games are available for tennis players to choose from. One way to make the game more fun and exciting is to simply follow the basics of the tennis game rules.
